This year’s tour focuses on one of the city’s most historic
neighborhoods – Thomas Park – an enclave of distinctive 19th century
homes atop Telegraph Hill. The area also is known as Dorchester
Heights. For more info visit:

Six stunning homes will be decorated, each with a different theme.
Five of the homes were built as single-family homes in the late 1800s –
an 1863 Carpenter Gothic, an 1870 Italianate Second Empire, an 1875
Second Empire, an 1885 classic Victorian and an 1890 Colonial. The sixth
home is a youngster, built in 1992. Just two of the elegant houses have
been converted to condominiums.
This
year, the Christmas tour committee, headed by Michele Hart, has
encouraged homeowners to decorate their homes with a theme in mind, and
they embraced the idea.
From Dickens’ Tiny Tim’s words, “God bless us, every one,” Irving
Berlin’s “Dreaming of a White Christmas” and the centuries-old Christmas
carol, “Joy to the World,” the themes also interpret a Seussical
Christmas, Christmas in the City and Bringing in the New Year.”
Tickets for the twilight tour are $60 and will include a complimentary
glass of wine and a cup of chowder at one of three local residents. The
Old Town Trolley will provide transportation to the various homes from
the Iron Workers Local No. 7 union hall at 195 Old Colony Ave., where
parking is available.
Tickets for the Sunday tour are $25 in advance or $30 if purchased on
the day of the tour. The trolley will leave from the Labouré Center at
275 West Broadway, which has limited parking, and from Castle Island,
where there is plenty of parking spots.
