July 30- August 3 Martha Lawrence Basket Workshop

For the past thirty years, Martha Lawrence has been creating lightship baskets. Her work is found in collections both in the United States and abroad and was selected to be in a Smithsonian exhibition of American crafts at the 1996 Olympics. The 1990 publication of her book, "The Lightship Baskets of Nantucket," established her as an authority on historic and contemporary baskets and is considered today to be a definitive publication on lightship baskets. In addition to creating baskets, Martha teaches workshops at art associations and basket gatherings around the country.
